Care & cleaning of Steel Doors & Windows
Cleaning your Doors:
Donatello doors have a very strong finish that is similar in quality to the finish on your automobile. This means it is resistant to rust and will last for many years. It also means that it can be damaged by improper cleaning.
Use a soft sponge and mild detergent, like dish washing liquid, diluted in warm water. You do not need to use much soap, only about the same concentration as you would use to do dishes. Simply wash the surfaces and then rinse with clean water.
Never use abrasive cleaners or scrubbing pads as these can scratch the surface. Also never use solvent cleaners as they can also damage the finish.
Cleaning your Windows:
You may clean your windows using the same soap and water mix as you would for washing the doors themselves. You may also use a proprietary glass cleaner like Windex but, in this case, be sure to wipe any overspill off the door surfaces. Windows on Classic Doors are openable from the inside so that they may be more easily cleaned.
Do not use petroleum-based cleaners, caustic chemicals, razor blades, putty knifes or abrasive pads.
Also you should never spray any dual or triple pane windows with a garden hose or pressure washer. This can damage the insulated glass unit seals and allow moisture between the panes.
